Everyone is invited to enter your design for an auto window decal for RUPA. The design should be no larger than 3 ½ X 3 ½ and any shape. Included in the logo should be RUPA, Residents United for Planning and Action. Check the front page of the latest RUPA Relay for more details. The winner will be announced at the RUPA Town Hall Meeting on January 27, 2009. There will be a $45.00 gift certificate to Outback steakhouse awarded as a prize for the winning decal.

SAVE THE DATE: RUPA Town Hall meeting, January 27th, 7:30 PM, Casino Building room 108. Tom Sublett and Bob Coleman will present their plans for 2009; Jim Bruner will outline the Gateway project. A reminder that RUPA Board meetings are held the first Monday of the month at 4 pm at Lord of Life Lutheran Church. RUPA is focused on Island zoning, the Village Plan and supporting groups that are working on non-Island issues (location of the jail, causeway barriers, and development of Jekyll Island).

Demolition of the public pool in Neptune Park began with the draining of the pool last week. Then proceeded to actual demolition on Saturday, June 14th. RUPA protested the removal of the pool, hosted pool parties, wrote and attended County Commission meetings. All to no avail. Despite the fact that a straw poll taken in July 2006 showed an overwhelming majority of local residents supported a pool; and despite the fact that the existing pool had been updated at considerable expense just 5 years ago.
